A very rare pioneer patriotic J.C. Wilson & Co. card with the Soldiers of the Queen Type I design, mailed April 17, 1902 to Honolulu, Hawaii, bearing a Honolulu receiving cancellation dated May 7, 1902.

The reverse of the card exhorts “Canada is getting ready another contingent for South Africa. If there’s any patriotic Britishers in Honolulu they had better come here and join.” The card was written 2 days after recruiting began for the dispatch of the final battalions of the Canadian Contingent to the Boer War.
