P.D. Ayer & Co.

P.D. Ayer & Co. of Moncton, New Brunswick was a prolific postcard publisher in the early 20th century. Lonzo Fisher McCoy, founder of The McCoy Printing Company, got his start in the printing business while working for P.D. Ayer & Co.

P.D. Ayer & Co. also published other material such as the Eastern Labor News, a weekly publication commencing in 1909. P. D. Ayer was Secretary-Treasurer of the New Brunswick Federation of Labour from 1915 to 1918. He had presided over the formation of the Federation at their meeting in September 16, 1913 as a member of the Moncton Trades & Labour Council.

Maritime Press was merged into P.D. Ayer & Co. in 1917. On 10 February 1932, Maritime Press was established on 706 Main Street in Moncton, New Brunswick with P. D. Ayer as president. The nature of business was job printing.
