P.D. Ayer & Co. Series 10

P.D. Ayer & Co. Series 10 postcards, as enumerated by Mike Smith in his latest book, The Canadian Patriotic & Heraldic Postcard Handbook 1897–1945, illustrate an image of Evangeline. From Wikipedia, “Evangeline, A Tale of Acadie, is an epic poem by the American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, published in 1847. The poem follows an Acadian girl named Evangeline and her search for her lost love Gabriel, set during the time of the Expulsion of the Acadians. The Evangeline Trail is a historic route in Nova Scotia that traces the Annapolis Valley, ancestral home of the Acadians. Picturesque especially in Summer and Fall, the trail runs from Grand-Pré, site of the first expulsions, south to Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia near the original French settlement in North America, Port Royal, Nova Scotia. More than a dozen small Acadian villages line the trail.”
