Queen and Macdonell

Queen Street, Parkdale, Toronto, Canada

A Valentine & Sons card, no. 101,795, from 1909 showing the intersection of Queen Street West and Macdonell Avenue. On the map below, the prominent building on the northeast corner of the intersection, and most of the block to the east, had been built prior to 1890. On the Map, Macdonell can be located as one block west of Landsdown, which is the street aligning with Parkdale Collegiate. By 1890, very little commercial frontage had been built west of Landsdowne except for the buildings pictured in this postcard, and the stores near the intersection of Roncesvalles, all of which were on the north side of Queen.
