This patriotic postcard showing the coat of arms of Canada is designated as NER2-001 by Michael J. Smith in his The Canadian Patriotic Postcard Checklist, 1898–1928. The card has been mailed on July 27, 1901 from Niagara to Mr. J.A. Briggs of Briggsville, Wisconsin, USA, an incorporated municipality by his son W.O. Briggs. The card bears a 1¢ QV Numeral stamp cancelled with a Niagara CDS cancellation, and a Buffalo NY transit cancel.


The card shows a Canadian coat of arms bearing the coats of arms of 5 Canadian provinces, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Manitoba, and the provincial symbol for PEI. The card has been printed for Nerlich & Co. of Toronto by Paul Seyfert, Luxuskarten-Fabrik of Dresden, Germany.
